We are a dance family that supports & motivates one another, gives back to the community around us and creates a safe & inclusive space for all.

About Us

Amargue Flow was founded by Andrea Arenasvazquez, also known as “Ace Fusion”. They are a queer, non binary, internationally known and well respected Bachata artist, educator & DJ. Located in NYC, Ace brings the roots, culture, and history of Bachata from its birthplace in the Dominican Republic. Ace teaches their classes with the biggest emphasis on mastering the basics and fundamentals, along with bringing cultural & historical awareness of where Bachata comes from and how it is danced in the Dominican Republic. In addition to a strong emphasis on the basics, Ace’s classes also focus on building strong social dancing skills. Through learning bachata fundamentals, a little knowledge of dancing the modern style while respecting the cultural dance and history of the Dominican Republic, beautiful social dancers are born.

At Amargue Flow, all of our classes are fun, educational and inclusive. It is of the utmost importance for all of our students to feel safe, welcome and valued. We do not discriminate against age, race, sexual preference or orientation. We welcome dancers of all styles and levels, and are extremely beginner friendly. When you take classes with Amargue flow or attend one of our events you can be assured that you are in a safe space and are welcomed just like family.

Volunteer with us

At Amargue Flow Cultural Dance Academy, we love to give back to those in need especially in our neighboring communities. Here you can see us at our two most recent projects. At The Bowery Mission (left) we volunteered at their soup kitchen delivering hot meals to over 100 homeless people. At the Little Food Community (below) we set up a farmers market where people in need were able to come and “shop” for fresh fruits & vegetables, pantry staples and other necessary products. They were both incredible experiences where we were able to contribute to the well-being of our community, spread kindness, gratitude and make a difference in the lives of others.

What Our Students are saying:

“Being part of Amargue Flow has been such a great experience for me. I started learning traditional bachata when I lived in Phoenix and when I moved back to NY, I didn't seem to be able to find many instructors teaching traditional bachata nor did I see any socials which really showcased this style. When I heard about Ace and Amargue Flow I knew that I had to give one of the series a shot to evaluate whether or not it was worth it. Believe me, all 2.5 six-week series I took were all worth it. This academy checks all of my boxes: friendly, focused on fundamentals, historical knowledge, clear and concise instruction and community. I also really value that Amargue Flow is filled with many humble people who are great dancers and are willing to help you grow as a dancer as well. I am looking forward to continuing to grow in my bachata journey with Amargue Flow!”

”As a certified Amargue Flow instructor, my journey began a year ago when I joined Ace Fusion as a student. At that time, I was seeking a supportive community to help me heal, and Ace Fusion welcomed me with open arms. It quickly became like a family to me, providing a joyful and welcoming space. What's remarkable is that all of this happened through online classes, live-streamed from NYC to Dallas, TX! Despite being an online participant, Ace and their community went above and beyond to nurture and train me. In just one year, we achieved the incredible milestone of opening a dance school right here in Texas, where we passionately teach people the art of social dancing Bachata, reconnecting the community with its Bachata roots. My journey of learning at Amargue Flow has been nothing short of an extraordinary experience”

Sid

“I knew I wanted to take a bachata series, but the commute held me back. When I finally decided to do it, it felt so natural. A bachata experience that connects you to the music, the instruments, a part of my own culture that I never knew I needed. Two series later, to el colmados later, countless fusion experience socials latrer…safe to say you will also find a family in this community. Beyond grateful.”

”I started taking classes at Amargue flow at the beginning of this year and rapidly saw myself progressing in my ability to keep express myself through dance. By now I’ve taken the series multiple times and every single time I become better at a different aspect of my dance. From my hand placement to hip movement to musicality, it just keeps growing”

Jaime

“Ever since I joined Amargue flow Academy , it has brought me so much joy. I’ve been one of the few students here since day one and to watch the growth of each student is so beautiful. Crazy how 6-8 weeks series can really impact a person’s life. To watch each student come out of their comfort zone and challenge themselves, grow and learn is truly beautiful. You will definitely learn more than just dancing at amargue flow.

It is tHE BEST PLACE TO LEARN TRADITIONAL BACHATA IN NYC. YOU WILL DIFFERENT LEARN FOOTWOOK/ HIP MOVEMENT/ Frame ETC. THE FOUNDATION OF BACHATA STRAIGHT FROM DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. FOR THE CULTURE.

ACE IS GOING YOU HAVE LOOKING SMOOTH AS HELL,….JUST TRUST THE PROCESS AND STOP PLAYING AND PULL UP

“After spending a couple of years in the Dominican Republic, I never really got to find the authenticity of traditional bachata in any class or socials. That was until I found Ace at Amargue Flow in December 2022. Signed up for my first 8-week series and I finally found what I was looking for. Not only was I learning the basics of bachata and leveling up pretty quickly, but I was also learning about the history of bachata and last but not least, the breakdown of each single instrument. I had never experienced this before while taking a dance class. What really changed everything was the safe place that had been created. Everybody is welcomed and I never felt judged. For anyone wanting not only to learn the real traditional bachata, in a safe environment and make amazing friends... I would recommend Amargue Flow 200%. Ace and the team are the best that could happen to you in New York.

“Growing up the Dominican that I am, bachata was always in my life. I saw the freedom and joy and expression that it came with. When I decided I wanted to become a (semi) professional bachata dancer I worked with almost everyone and anyone in the bachata scene but in each of their classes something was missing: The joy, the expression, the freedom. It became more about looking complex and fancy and even sensual. I often thought “that’s it they have ruined bachata” but I found Amargue Flow. An organization that keeps the tradition alive the joy and the freedom too. They are making this Dominican proud. I have found a family that I can bond over the love of traditional bachata. The best bachata there is.

A huge plus was it being a safe space for us queer dancers. So many of us have struggled to dance who and how we want to. Thank you Amargue Flow for being home for so many people.

“I am grateful for finding Amargue Flow and becoming part of the family because this dance academy truly is a family. Aside from completely providing the extensive skills needed to improve on/master bachata and delving into the history of the music and culture behind this dance, Amargue Flow has created a safe space where those of all different backgrounds can comfortably come together and share their love of bachata dance with one another. Now, after completing the Amargue Flow Teacher Training Program, I can confidently share the knowledge I’ve gained and extend this safe dance space.

Marika

“Amargue flow Academy has been one of the best dance academies I’ve attended. Not only is it a safe and welcoming space for all, but the encouragement you get from everyone and the great and positive energy are like no other. I’ve enjoyed challenging myself and with the 6 week course my bachata skills grew immensely. The academy is also one of the few that actually teaches you about the culture, and breaks down the instruments and sections of the music. It’s a great cultural educational experience. Ace is a wonderful instructor and all of the management team is also just as awesome and such wonderful souls. ”

Adelita

“I am very grateful to Ace for everything they have taught me. Today where I am with my journey, it won’t be possible without Ace. Ace taught me everything about traditional bachata and opened my eyes to the whole new word as I could hear things in music which I never use to hear, I could feel what I never use to feel as Ace changed my whole perspective towards social dancing as I learnt the goal of social dancing is to connect and understand each other, it’s not about executing patterns.

I am also grateful for their teaching course which gave me knowledge and structure and how to apply it. Their mentorship meant a lot to me.

These courses changed my life and the knowledge which I received build my confidence.”

Aman

“Amargue Flow has provided me with a supportive, uplifting community here in NYC. Not only have I learned so much about bachata - from the history, to the instruments, to legendary artists - but I’ve also become part of a community of people I admire and love. I’ve grown both as a dancer and a person during my time here! The biggest shoutout to Ace and the AmargueFlow team for creating a safe and welcoming space that creates an uplifting community and allows people to share the joy of bachata together.”

Alani

“Amargue Flow is so much more than just a dance class. No matter who you are or what your level is, as soon as you walk in the door you will feel welcome and supported. Classes are fun and engaging, filled with buttery smooth bachata moves straight from the Dominican Republic with accompanying deeper connection to the culture and music.

Ace is only what I can describe as a wonderful human, and does an incredible job at creating a COMMUNITY of people who support and welcome one another.

I originally came since I wanted to get more in touch with Dominican bachata, but ended up with a deeper connection to the music and dance than I even expected, as well as a whole new amazing community to be a part of.

A++, I couldn’t recommend Amargue Flow more

Genevieve

“I came to amargue looking to better my musicality and my knowledge in traditional bachata, and I got to say I just not only did that. The people, the vibe is different, they really teach you about what's is bachata, the feeling when you dance, how to deeply understand the music and its meaning, and they build a strong community where everyone can be accepted. I really enjoyed my time in amargue and made some friends, we see each other in the dance floor time to time. I strongly recommend it if you're beginning your dance journey or you are interested in learning the true bachata.

The experience in the teacher training is one level above, I changed my view about the dance busniness, finding new possibilities and still learning about the roots of the bachata, is a worthy experience I recommend to everyone who wants to make a step forward in this world.
